World Beaters Quiz Winners


Carnalea Karate Club is hoping to purchase proper mats for all of its students to train on.

On Saturday 12 November 2005 they held a World Beaters Quiz at Tesco, Springhill Shopping Centre in order to kick of their fund raising.

They managed to raise quite a bit, however are still some way short of their target figure. Prizes were presented to the winners on the following Saturday, by 3 times world karate champion David Brashaw.

The club would like to thank the following retailers for donating prizes and all the children and parents who helped during the day.

Prizes were been donated by: Hilti (Power Tools), The Point Restaurant, Harry Douglas Furniture, Nightingales, The Bryansburn Inn, The Roxbury Barbers, The Vacuum Hospital, SPF Car Valeting, Scruples, Lloyds Pharmacy, Cartridge World, XPonent Computers, Premier Meats, Hastings Stormont Hotel, The Springhill Fruit Shop, Manhattan Cleaners, Trade a Phone, The Pyramids and Bangor Autoparts.

At a recent grading at Carnalea the following results were achieved: Sarah Shields (Orange stripe); Anna Nicolls, Charlie Edgar (Orange belt); Andrew Wilson (Green Stripe); Levi Kane, Victoria Lindsay (Purple Stripe) and Kurtis Kane (Brown Belt – 3 rd kyu). Well done to all for some terrific performances.

The club Family Open day takes place this Saturday. The following day sixteen students will be representing the club at the prestigious North of Ireland International Karate Open, which is taking place in Ballysillan L.C. in Belfast.
