Healey signed shirt winner

Last Sunday the first name drawn out for the Northern Ireland number nine shirt, signed by David Healy on the day of his MBE announcement, was local man Paul Ringrow, and he was delighted. Paul had purchased a ballot ticket the day before in the Bloomfield Shopping Centre and was over the moon when local karate star David Brashaw made the phone call to tell him of his good fortune.
The framed shirt was presented to Mr Ringrow by the editor of the Co Down Spectator, Paul Flowers.
Coach Brashaw commented “Mr Flowers has been a great supporter of sport in the borough for a number of years and in particular is always keen to promote the time and dedication put in by many local clubs and so-called minority sports.”
It was great to have him here and doubly great to see the signed shirt being won by a local person.”
Other prizes went to Mrs Warden, Sandra Kelly, John Boyd, Mr P Bennett, Sarah Brashaw, Wesley Taggart, Mark Patterson, Steven Bell, Brian Ferguson, Beverly Stevenson, Arden Hamill, Mike Carson and Kim Robinson.
David added “It was a great success and special thank must go to all local businesses who very kindly donated the prizes. They are Bangor Autoparts, Kevin Lewis Database Specialists, Express Image, Frame Fantasy, Cartridge World, Boots the Chemist, Spence Carpets, Bookends, Choc-o-bloc, Burns Butchers, Roxbury Barbers and Tesco.
It is fantastic to have all of this local support especially as it is not forthcoming from anywhere else.

This October we are taking four local kids to the WUKO world karate championships, an event that is expected to have two thousand competitors in attendance.  This will be the biggest karate event ever held in the world, and thanks to this local support we will be a small part of it.”
