At the WUKO European Karate Championships last weekend in Liege, Belgium, David Brashaw from the Carnalea Karate Club collected bronze in the Veteran's Wado-Ryu Kata Category.

With his colleagues for the team kata event, Sam and Kevin Lewis, the Northern Ireland trio were delighted with fifth place in the mixed style team kata section.

David added, personally I was delighted to get in the medals again, after missing out on getting to last year's Worlds. The team performance was a great achievement, considering we beat teams from the stronger karate style of Shito Ryu. Had it been just our style, we would have collected another bronze or maybe the silver.

All in all it was a fantastic event.  If you add in my fourth in the Senior Wado-Ryu kata final along with Kevin and Sam being placed 9th & 10th respectively in their first major European competition, we have a lot to be proud of and a fantastic learning experience that we can pass on to our junior students."
