Special day for Parents
|
Last Saturday the kids at the Carnalea Karate Club put on a very special display for their family and friends at the annual Open Day. After an energetic relay team warm-up, were lots of fun was had, each group; junior, intermediate and seniors, took turns to perform various karate skills for an intrigued audience. The juniors (red belts) demonstrated the transition from very basic techniques into the next level skills for yellow belt. This included kicking and moving forward and stepping through with a punch. The intermediates showed various disengagements that they would use to escaped from a bully. This included; grabs, sweeps and breakout techniques. The seniors gave a demonstration of fighting techniques, pad work, skill control and advanced self defence. The kata demonstration from Levi Kane and Victoria Lindsay received a loud round of applause from everyone. During the event coach David Brashaw gave explanations to the families on how the different part of the karate class programme help develop basic motor skills and confidence for the young people and then how this eventually may lead to international class athletes.
The next event the club is really looking forward to is the Christmas Party which will happen in the next few weeks. As always the fitness of the seniors will be well tested against the up-and-coming juniors at this time. If you wish to find out more about confidence development through karate you can contact David at wadodave@yahoo.com or on 07760 337578.
